Overview

You may use our formula processor to make your forms smart and email notifications conditional!

Example Uses

You can use an @IF() formula in the "Email Responses To" field to send an email notification to different recipients based on values entered in the form. An example of this type of formula is shown below.

You can also change the subject title and sender information with the use of aliases and formulas.

Setting Up Conditional Email Notifications

Open your form in the Form Builder and locate the multiple-choice field that will determine where the email notification will be sent.

Then, in the Form Outline, find the field alias for your multiple-choice field. In this case, tfa_1877.

Save and exit the Form Builder. Go to the Notifications page of your form.

Scroll down to the Your Notifications section, and the "Email Responses To" field is where we will enter the formula below.

@IF(%%tfa_1877%%="Copywriting","copy@formassemblytest.com",@IF(%%tfa_1877%%="Graphic Design","design@formassemblytest.com",@IF(%%tfa_1877%%="Video Editing","video@formassemblytest.com","")))

Note: Replace the field alias, choices, and email addresses with the values used in your form.

If a selection should send the notification to multiple people, return multiple email addresses separated by commas.

For example:

@IF(%%tfa_1877%%="Copywriting","copy1@formassemblytest.com,copy2@formassemblytest.com","")

Click Apply to save the notification settings.

The form will evaluate the formula when a response is submitted and use the resulting email address or addresses as the notification recipient.

Use within Redirect Links and Connectors

The ideas discussed above can also be applied to custom redirect links and formulas in connectors.

For example, if you wanted a redirect link to go to a particular website based on a selection within a form, you could set this up the same way as the email notifications discussed above. The only difference would be that you would use website URLs instead of email addresses. Then, you could use the field alias within your custom redirect link, just like it was used within the email notifications.

Similarly, within connectors, anywhere you have a mapping that is set to get its value from "Text or a Formula," you could use formulas with field aliases to send conditional values.
