IP Anonymization is an optional privacy setting that automatically anonymizes IP addresses collected with form submissions.
For information on upgrading, please contact our Sales Department at email@example.com.
When this feature is enabled, the last octet of IPv4 addresses and the last 80 bits of IPv6 addresses are replaced with zeros. This guarantees that the IP address cannot be used to uniquely identify the computer used to submit a response to a form.
Note that the collection of other Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is under the responsibility of the form creator. Such information, if requested through the form, is not anonymized.
How to Enable IP Anonymization
Follow these steps to enable this feature.
- Check that you are running at least version 3.1.22 of FormAssembly. To do so, log as an administrator and go to Admin Dashboard | Settings | General. If you are running an older release, contact us for information on how to upgrade FormAssembly.
- Go to Miscellaneous Settings and scroll down to the Privacy Settings section. Set IP Anonymization to ON and click the Save button at the bottom of the page. See Step 3 below if the Privacy Settings section is not visible.
- If you cannot find this option in the Other Settings page, make sure that your FormAssembly instance is up-to-date. Go to /enterprise_update (see Step 7 here) and review the instructions. If there's an indication that a configuration update is required, click the Install link, then go back to the Other Settings page to turn IP Anonymization on.
